Journey to Jemima
Our names are Bradley and Dawn Gregg and we’ve adopted two beautiful daughters, Galilee Polina from Russia and Jemima Bakytgul from Kazakhstan. We are also the parents of three wonderful biological children, Bria, Mcabe and Zion.
We met in 1986 on the set of a television show that I, Brad was working on as an actor. Dawn was attending USC Film School studying to become a screenwriter. We were married not long after that, and have had quite a journey together for the last 19 years. A winding road led to the end of ourselves in 1997 when we were both born again.
Jesus our Lord and Savior is our everything…our motive now. All we say and all we do must be to glorify Him. Together, Dawn and I have started Eventide Fields, a film and video production company with the mission of producing projects that glorify God, equip His Saints and drive the Gospel.
What wisdom can a couple in their mid thirties who are blessed to be raising five children ranging in the age from 11 to newborn offer to those on the pathway to parenthood? Pray about expanding your family. The Lord will answer in one of three ways…. “yes”, “no” or “yes, but not now”. Ask Him to calm all your questions, doubts and fears and to give you a peace that surpasses all understanding regarding His decision.
If your family is called to adoption …know that He is in control of each and every open and closed door. He is sovereign and has complete authority over paperwork, time schedules, financial concerns, health issues, travel arrangements, adjustments and bonding , and every hurdle, problem and victory you’ll encounter along the way. It’s so comforting to know that the events of our lives pass through the throne room of God before they reach us.
If you’re feeling somewhat inadequate to welcome a new little one, a toddler or an older child into your home it’s because you are. But thankfully we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Remember…The Lord does not call the equipped but equips the called and His grace is sufficient to meet all our needs.
A labor of love has been produced to document our adoption journey. “Journey to Jemima” is a Word Entertainment Film and Video Festival award winning journal-like documentary. This film is meant to allow families to take part in the colorful, blessed journey of adoption. We hope as an audience walks through the process with us, experiencing the life-changing moments and intimate emotions involved, that they themselves might be inspired to take a step of faith in response to the Lord’s prompting.
In Christ’s Love,
Bradley and Dawn Gregg
